Dear Esteemed
Members and Visitors,
Welcome to the official website of the Korean Neuroendovascular Society (KoNES). We are delighted to have you here. This is a place where specialists, trainees, and global colleagues come together to share knowledge, explore innovation, and advance neuroendovascular care. Whether you are a long-standing member of KoNES or a first-time visitor interested in our field, we appreciate your interest and participation in our community.
The Korean Neuroendovascular Society (KoNES) was founded in December 1995 by nine pioneering members under its original name, the Korean Society of Intravascular Neurosurgery (KSIN). Reflecting the organization's evolving identity and multidisciplinary growth, the name was changed to the Society of Korean Endovascular Neurosurgeons (SKEN) in July 2012, and later to the current Korean Neuroendovascular Society (KoNES) in December 2019.
Today, KoNES has expanded into a leading multidisciplinary academic society dedicated to basic science research and endovascular treatment of cerebrovascular and spinal vascular diseases. More than 500 members from diverse specialties—including neurosurgery, neuroradiology, neurology, cardiology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and radiation oncology—actively contribute to our mission.
Since its establishment, KoNES has continuously worked to strengthen academic excellence and clinical expertise through a wide range of scientific programs. These include Basic NeuroEndovascular Training courses (BNET), the Arterial Recanalization in Cerebral Stroke (ARCS) program, monthly scientific forums, the Annual Summer Conference on Endovascular Neurointerventional Therapy (ASCENT), the Advanced Neuroendovascular Technique Education (ANTE), the Annual Joint Cerebrovascular and Endovascular Update Conference, regional academic conferences, Website for Continuing Medical Education (CME), and the KoNES Annual Meeting.
In addition, KoNES has co-hosted the Bi-Neurovascular Symposium (BNS) since 2022 in collaboration with leading global experts. BNS has rapidly developed into a premier academic platform that fosters international collaboration, facilitates the exchange of innovative clinical experiences, and promotes joint research initiatives in neuroendovascular therapy.
KoNES also publishes the Journal of Cerebrovascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery (JCEN), a quarterly peer-reviewed English-language journal indexed in PubMed, KoreaMed, KOMCI, Google Scholar, and KCI. Through this journal, we continue to advance global academic communication and scientific improvement within our field.
Furthermore, KoNES plays a pivotal role in neuroendovascular medicine in South Korea by fostering strong intersociety partnerships, promoting professional collaboration, and advocating for improved patient care. We are also actively developing a nationwide online registry for cerebral aneurysms and mechanical thrombectomy to assess current clinical practice and contribute to evidence-based healthcare policy in Korea.
KoNES remains committed to advancing as a world-leading multidisciplinary society, supported by the passion and leadership of our members. We sincerely ask for your continued interest, engagement, and partnership as we move forward together.
Thank you.
Suhk Que Park, M.D., Ph.D.
